Aseptic bag-in-box, also known as BIB, is composed of a flexible inner bag made of multi-layer film, a sealed tap changer and a carton. It is widely used in the storage and transportation of fruit juice, dairy products, egg liquid, wine, purified water, and edible oil. and other products. Bag-in-box is gradually replacing traditional rigid packaging as flexible packaging for consumer goods, and is gradually becoming popular all over the world.
Pioneered and patented by William R. Scholle in 1955, the bag-in-box was originally used to safely transport battery acid to automotive gas stations and repair shops. Although only started in the automotive industry, this packaging system soon spread to other industries. Bag-in-box technology was extended to food and beverage products after the aseptic filling process was perfected in 1956.
Bag: Constructed of layers of film that are sealed together to protect the quality of the product and keep its interior safe from being filled during end use.
Nozzles: are the basis for bag-in-box fittings. This plastic frame opening is sealed in the bag at the time of manufacture and is the entry point for product to be loaded into the bag. After filling, the mouth of the pouch is covered with a simple lid, dispensing tap or connectors and accessories depending on the intended end use.
Fittings: This is a broader category of items including nozzles, caps, valves, etc. It includes anything attached to the mouth of the pocket. Bag-in-box accessories can be anything from a simple cap covering a spout to a complex dispensing valve or connectors and hoses that bridge the gap between the spout/valve and external dispensing equipment.
Box: Outer packaging with lid and bag filled. Mainly corrugated boxes, but it can also be other cardboard boxes or industrial filling iron drums.
Use of bag-in-box: the bag is filled with a liquid product and then the accessories are placed to secure the package. The bags are then placed into boxes for safe shipping and distribution.
Aseptic bag-in-box is mainly used for filling storage:
jam
Concentrated Juice
egg liquid
dairy products
mineral water
